The SFH Institute for Public Health ("the Institute", "we", "us") is part of the Society for Family Health Group. We take privacy seriously — this page explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and what control you have over it.
1. What we collect
We collect three categories of information:
- Technical data. Your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages viewed on our site — standard server logs and analytics.
- Account data. Name, email address, role, and country if you create a learner account or apply to a course.
- Course data. Your enrolment, progress, assignments, and certificate records.
2. How we use it
We use the information you provide to:
- Deliver courses, issue certificates, and run live cohorts.
- Improve the site — which pages help learners, which don't.
- Send you transactional emails (enrolment confirmations, certificate dispatch, cohort reminders).
- Send you our newsletter — only if you have opted in.
- Respond to your questions when you email us directly.
3. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to keep the site working and to understand which pages our learners use. You can decline non-essential cookies from the banner shown on your first visit; essential session cookies cannot be disabled because they keep you logged in to your learning area.
4. Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share it with:
- Our parent organisation, the Society for Family Health Group, for shared services such as bio look-ups for leadership pages.
- University and ministry partners who co-issue certificates, where you have enrolled in a partner course.
- Service providers who host the site, send our newsletter, or process course payments — under contract and only as needed.
- Law enforcement, where we are required to respond to a lawful request.
5. Your rights
You can ask us at any time to: see what data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop sending you emails. Send the request from the email address on your account to privacy@sfhinstitute.org and we will respond within 30 days.
6. Retention
We keep course records (including certificate data) for as long as you remain enrolled and for ten years after — long enough for regulatory and accreditation requirements. Marketing data is deleted within 30 days of you unsubscribing.
7. Changes
If we change this policy materially, we will note the change at the top of this page and email anyone with an active account at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
8. Contact
Questions, complaints, or requests can be sent to privacy@sfhinstitute.org or by post to the SFH Institute for Public Health, Plot 8, Port Harcourt Crescent, Garki II, Abuja, Nigeria.
